Approach

Kick-off discussion

We’ll have a chat over the phone or meet you in person for a kick-off session (free of charge) so we can develop an understanding of your vision, the scope of the project and what you’d like to achieve.

Site visit

Next we like to get on-site for a ‘walk and talk’. This allows us to get an idea of the space we’re working with, what advantages the site affords us and what challenges to be aware of. Our site visits often bring on new ideas and are another opportunity for you to get a feel of whether you’d like to progress.

Design and working drawings

You may have your design and working drawings ready to go. Or you might be starting from scratch and would prefer us to work alongside your architect or draftsman to help guide your vision. Either way, the earlier you involve us the better. We can assist with technical discussions, whether it be with council through the consent process or with engineers for geotechnical requirements. This ensures a clear scope of work from the get go and often saves you time and money down the track.

Pricing the build and presenting the proposal

Once detailed plans are completed and approved, we’ll be able to put forward a formal proposal/contract with a detailed quote. Depending on the project, we can involve a quantity surveyor. We work directly with sub trades and other suppliers to obtain formal quotes for their work. By this stage of the project you should be clear on interior fittings, coverings and finishes to ensure we quote all aspects of the build accurately. This reduces the chances of any budget surprises down the track.

We often like to present the proposal to you in person or over the phone so we can talk you through what’s included and excluded in the build to ensure the scope of the project is clear.

Refinements to the proposal

We’ll give you plenty of time to read through the formal proposal in detail. And you’ll have ample opportunity to ask questions. This is the stage where we can adjust scope, size, material selections and everything else to ensure your build sticks within your budget. From here you’ll decide whether you’d like to progress with us and sign the proposal/contract. We’ll then proceed to formally scheduling your build. As an approved NZCB builder your contract will also include the Halo - Comprehensive 10-Year Residential Guarantee.

Construction

Our team of licensed building practitioners will take your 2D dreams and turn them into 3D reality. We’ll regularly keep you up to date with progress on the build and key upcoming milestones. We know how exciting this stage is for you, so site visits to check on progress are welcomed. We know that you’re working to a timeframe and so are we. Towards the latter part of the build we’ll be transparent about the estimated completion date and the scheduling of the final code of compliance. This will allow you to plan ahead for your move in date.

Handover

The day we hand over the keys. Before we sign the build over to you, we make sure to do a complete walk-through and check all the finer details.

Final check in

Once you’ve had the chance to settle in and get used to your space we’ll take the chance to complete a final check in and make sure you’re happy.
